Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then found many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
